Privacy Policy
Last updated 24 October 2026
This policy explains what I collect when you visit my sites, sign up for my letters, write to me, or buy a workshop, and what I do with it. I'm Ana Beij, an artist in Austin, Texas, and I run this small business myself. If anything here is unclear, write to me at ana@anabeij.com.
"My sites" means anabeij.com, ekphrasis.anabeij.com, workshops.anabeij.com and any page that links to this policy.
The short version
- I collect only what I need to send you what you asked for, run my workshops and retreats, and understand whether my ads are working.
- I never sell your personal information.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. I never see or store your card number.
- You can ask me to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
What I collect
What you give me
- Your name and email when you join my letters or ask for the free journal.
- What you write in a contact, commission, workshop or retreat inquiry form: your name, email, phone number if you add it, and your message.
- When you buy a workshop: your name, email, billing country and postal code, and what you bought. Stripe collects your payment details directly.
- Inside the Ekphrasis workshop: your sign-in email, which lessons you've watched, your preferences, and any notes you choose to write there.
What's collected automatically
- Basic technical information when you visit, such as your browser, device, approximate location based on your IP address, and the pages you view.
- Cookies and similar tools, explained below.
How I use it
- To give you what you asked for: the workshop, the free journal, my letters, a reply to your message.
- To run the workshop: sign you in, remember where you stopped, and send workshop emails such as your welcome and sign-in codes.
- To handle payments, refunds and questions about a charge.
- To see which posts and ads bring people here, so I spend less on ads that don't help anyone.
- To keep my sites secure and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To meet my legal and tax obligations.
I only send you my letters if you signed up for them, and every letter has an unsubscribe link.
Who helps me
I use a few trusted services to run this business. Each one gets only what it needs to do its job.
- Stripe and Link process payments. For workshop purchases, Link (a Stripe service) is the seller of record: it takes the payment, handles sales tax and sends your receipt. See stripe.com/privacy.
- Kit sends my letters and the free journal. See kit.com/privacy.
- Cloudflare hosts my sites and stores form messages and workshop accounts.
- Resend delivers emails from my sites, such as sign-in codes and form notifications.
- Bunny.net streams the workshop videos.
- Google (Analytics and Ads) and Meta (Facebook and Instagram ads) help me measure visits and ads on my public pages. They are never used inside the workshop.
- Everyday tools I use to run the business, such as my email and calendar.
I may also share information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or if my business ever changes hands, and then only under the promises in this policy.
Cookies
- Needed cookies keep you signed in to the workshop and keep checkout working. The sites can't work properly without them.
- Measurement and ad cookies from Google and Meta tell me how people found me and whether an ad led to a sign-up or a purchase. They are used on my public pages only.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block needed cookies, signing in to the workshop won't work. You can also manage ads at facebook.com/adpreferences and adssettings.google.com.
How long I keep it
- Letters: until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete you.
- Messages and inquiries: as long as they're useful for our conversation, and no longer than three years.
- Purchase records: seven years, because tax law requires it.
- Workshop account: as long as you have access. If you delete your account, I delete your notes and progress and keep only the purchase record I'm required to keep.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask me to:
- tell you what information I have about you and send you a copy;
- correct it;
- delete it, except what I must keep for tax or legal reasons;
- stop sending you letters (or just click unsubscribe).
Email ana@anabeij.com from the address you used with me. I'll reply within 30 days, usually much sooner, and I'll never treat you differently for asking.
California residents: I don't sell personal information. Using Google and Meta ad tools on my public pages may count as "sharing" for advertising under California law. To opt out, email me with the subject "Do not share" and I'll take care of it.
Europe and the UK: I use your information to give you what you asked for, with your consent (for letters and, where required, ad cookies), or because I have a legitimate interest in running my small business. Your information is processed in the United States. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
My sites and workshops are for adults. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has given me information, write to me and I'll delete it.
Security
I use reputable services, encrypted connections and limited access to keep your information safe. No system is perfect, and if something goes wrong that affects you, I'll tell you promptly.
Changes
If I change this policy, I'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, I'll let subscribers and workshop members know by email.
